Application Process for Building and Zoning Permits

Virtually every building permit issued by Clark Township begins with the submission and approval of an application for a Land Use or Zoning Permit. There is a fee of $40.00 plus millage to visit the site and review the application. Mr. Ken Waybrant, the Township’s Building and Zoning Inspector, 906-484-2672, will help with any questions about the permit process.

The Building Permit and Zoning Permit applications are designed to detail the location and general nature of the proposed project to insure the project complies with Township zoning ordinances.

Each application must be filled out in its entirety, including the applicant’s contact information. The completed applications must be submitted with the associated fees to the Treasurer's Office.

After review, if the application does not meet land use regulations, the building inspector may deny the request and the applicant can appeal for a hearing before the Planning Commission. If the applicant is seeking a variance to zoning regulations, an appeal can be made to the Zoning Board of Appeals.

Following approval of the permit request, the applicant will be given authorization for the project or informed if any additional permits will be required for the project.

The building and the zoning permit applications are available in the hallway outside of the Deputy Supervisor’s office in the Clark Township Offices 207 N. Blind Line Road during normal business hours Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
